Abstract
The BEFKI 5-7 is intended for use with students in grades 5-7 and can be administered as an individual or group test. The test allows the measurement of fluid and crystalline intelligence with age-appropriate tasks. Possible areas of application are primarily in the context of school psychology (e.g., diagnosis of giftedness, partial performance deficits, or special educational needs).
Description
The BEFKI 5-7 is a theoretically based intelligence test for the assessment of general cognitive abilities and is divided into four subtests. Three subtests measure reasoning ability (gf) and one subtest measures general knowledge (gc). The subtests for reasoning comprise 16 items each, covering verbal, numerical, and figural aspects. The subtest on general knowledge comprises 64 items, the content of which can be assigned to the natural sciences, humanities and social sciences. Content that is not explicitly the subject of school lessons is also taken into account. A short form of the BEFKI 5-7 is available, which contains the subtest "Reasoning - Figural Part" and the subtest "General Knowledge". Two pseudo-parallel versions exist for both the long and short forms, for which separate test booklets (A and B) are available.
